Google LTI Error - 414 URI Too Large

Has anyone else experienced this with the Google LTI? When we try to embed a Google Doc onto a par using the embed tool we receive that message. It's not consistent though, I see it in one of my test courses but not in 2 others. It happens when I try to upload, but also displays the error with docs I had previously embedded on a page. We also see an error with the Google Doc Cloud tool. After you save the assignment, the document fails to load and we get the error message: http_generic_error. The issue has just cropped up this week, and numerous teachers are seeing it

That is a nail biter of a conundrum indeed! I will admit I have not had a huge amount of experience with the Google LTI, but I do know an awesome bunch that might have some additional experience! I have shared this with the https://community.canvaslms.com/groups/canvas-developers?sr=search&searchId=d490f395-f3e1-4f08-830d-...‌ group. Being that it is LTI specific, and some of the developers have put their own LTIs together in the past, hopefully they may have some additional insights.

Thanks  @stuart_ryan ‌. Canvas has a tracker on the issue now and believe the issue is due to course copies and using the document multiple times, although that doesn't seem to line up with the cases I've looked at. It did crop up after the 12/9 production release, so my inclination is that one of the numerous bug fixes that came out in that release led to this problem. Hopefully, we'll have a resolution soon, we use Google widely in our institution and a lot of users are affected

Thanks for the heads up  @audra_agnelly , glad they have a tracker on the issue. I would be very curious to hear how you get on after they have had time to look at it a little more deeply.

Hopefully having cropped up only recently, that should make it easier to narrow down what might be the cause. Also it is always good to let your CSM know that you are having the issue (and the Canvas Case number) especially if it is affecting a large number of users at your institution. If you haven't already it is good to communicate the business priority and impact to your CSM, so that they can keep an eye on the ticket and advocate on your behalf.
