Quiz error code 8947

I had quite a few students who had trouble doing a quiz on canvas recently. When students attempt to take quiz (using the app from an iPhone) the quiz time starts but no questions show. There is an error message that gives the code 8947. Students who had Ipads could take it.  If they had Iphones it would not work. Are students supposed to be able to take quizzes by phone? Or is this a known limitation? Any suggestions? I have submitted a ticket, but it has been a couple of days and no answer from support yet.
