Read SIS Permission What does this allow?

Hello,

We are new to Canvas and I am having issue in determining what one of the permissions allows.  The Read SIS Data permission. What does this allow a Course Role to see or do? Does anyone know? I can't find anything in the guides .

Thanks for the link, however it doesn't answer my question. The information the document has for Read SIS Data is " Governs account related SIS ID (i.e. subaccount SIS ID)"

I tested this permission with the help of one of our support engineers and it appears that the Read SIS Data permission at the course level allows the user to view SIS IDs. Within a course, you can view SIS ID information on the users detail page (accessed through People), in the gradebook csv export, and in course settings (course details and sections). I have updated the Canvas Course Role Permissions document to reflect this information.

Thanks for checking into this. I was playing around too but did not know where to look. It's only the sis id's they see? No other info?

For the Read SIS Data permission, yes, just SIS IDs. As for other info, not that I am aware. Did you have something specific in mind  @mzucal ​?

Hi everyone. This should be easy, but it's vexing. We have the permissions enabled for Read SIS data, but the faculty do not see anything below "You Know This Person As...." nor do they see anything in the Course Settings > Sections.

What am I missing? Again, permissions enabled for Teachers to Read SIS Data
