SpeedGrader Annotations Not Saving

A few faculty members have experienced an issue lately with saving annotations and comments within the SpeedGraders Doc Viewer on file upload submissions. From time-to-time, they will receive this error message.

Canvas Support suggested to the instructors to clear their cookies and cache in the browser they were using. That does not seem to fix the problem. 

Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution?

I have had at least one instructor reach out about annotations and comments not being saved as well. Canvas Support mentioned that it could be a resulting of timing out. I still have not determined a solution

I had this problem occasionally in the past and figured it was a dropped connection for a second. However, this now happens multiple times on one document when I am wired in to the internet (i.e., not on wifi). It's now taking me two or three times longer to grade because I have to retype almost half of my annotated comments. What is causing the "error saving" warning?

We have only experienced this problem with certain file types.  Documents saved under Docx or Doc work great, but if someone submits an assignment using an RTF extension, it does not save annotations even though it is reviewable under Speedgrader. 

I suspect this is partly because support for the RTF format has ended and something along those lines is preventing annotations.  

What file type are you experiencing this with?

This happens with a maddening frequency on my iPad, so I had to give up using it. It also happens with my MacBook Pro, and I don't think it has anything to do with file type, wifi dropping, being logged out, or any of the other suggestions. This is a bug that has been in SpeedGrader a long time, and I feel like it's actually going to need to be renamed "SlowGrader" if it doesn't get fixed.
