User account e-mail 'memory'?


I have a weird situation occurring. A mistake was made when the user account was created for the user Nichole, shown below. Zach's email was put in by mistake. The mistake has been corrected, but searching for Zach's email still brings up Nichole's account. 

I ran an API call 


using the email as the search term and as expected it returns the same two accounts. 


I want to say I've encountered this before. A 'memory' of the user's info was retained for a while even after being changed. Can anyone explain this? Will this just clear itself after a length of time for the canvas servers to clear their cache? 

I'm not sure it's having an negative impact other than confusing search results, but I would like to be able to pass the info along when it confuses our admins.

Will, I haven't run into this myself, but it would certainly be problematic if the wrong email address is setup to receive notifications. Have you masqueraded as Nichole to verify if that other email shows up as a secondary email on her account settings or notification pages? Or tried the communication channel api? v1/users/{user_id}/communication_channels
