Hello Canvas Admins!
As you may have seen, the voting period has opened for several of the feature requests. One of the issues that has always faced the Admins, is our low numbers. We have features out there that we want to see implemented, but we need to vote them up. Here is a short list that is out there now:
I am sure that there are more that I missed.
Get out the vote!!!

Hey @Robbie_Grant
Great idea to help Canvas Admins leverage their voice in the feature voting process. You should all be able to add tags to ideas. Would you mind testing that theory please? If you can add tags, I'll add a widget to the overview page of this group so you can see a handy list of posts people have tagged with canvas admin
BTW; I'll go ahead and mark this answered as it isn't really an open question.
Hi @Chris_Hofer I think the help Menu could be re-written using JS and CSS, I'm thinking of doing it in fact my self.
A nice example of extended functionality can be found here ( see @lbouthillier 's post on customization ).
I posted a link to source files on github in this repo (canvas-contrib).
As a follow up, here are the admin requests (compiled from @Robbie_Grant and @Chris_Hofer ) that haven't reached 30 votes yet. Get out there admin's and show your support!
Already over the 30 vote count!
I added a request for Inbox message creation UI design change.
Bug:: Instructors are having a difficult time distinguishing which course they are selecting from the drop down menu do to the course titles are getting cut off in the drop down menu.
Possible fix: Looking at the code I could add some custom css to increase the width of drop down selection but, the text has been abbrevia…

Don't forget about including Firefox ESR support! https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/1134
I'm sure we all work with or know the folks who manage institutional computer labs, and this is a big one for them. In fact, it may be the BIGGEST one for computer lab administrators on this list. Let's help them make their wish a reality.

This is a great idea!
Hey awilliams,
Are you able to add tags to feature idea submissions that others have submitted?
That's a negative ghost rider.
😕
It's a new request I put in today, but I'd like to get your thoughts. As people keep asking us to add integrations with Lecture Capture, Clickers, Publisher Content, and to enable things like Roll Call and SCORM the navigation menu can grow quite a bit. Are you all doing anything to help manage that so it doesn't turn into the hot mess that is Blackboard with so many bloated options that it becomes overwhelming? Do you have any approval processes or policies about what gets added?
Nice one @buddyhall !
We build curriculum into Canvas "Master Term" courses for our instructors, and then we give them access to import content to their own sections. One of the things we do when building content is re-order the left navigation buttons in this order:
Home
Syllabus
Announcements
Modules
Files
Grades
Conferences
Collaborations
Chat
The rest are hidden from student view. Instructors often change this in their own courses, but at least we're providing a "template" of the tools we think are the most helpful for them and their students.
Same here @Chris_Hofer . Also, it seems like I remember seeing a similar idea somewhere, maybe in the old community, that would allow account admins to also make some of those items un-removable to comply with institutional requirements.
I personally like to have a separate voting area for admins. While I understand that Insructure would not want focus only on the admin requests I would think they should be handled differently from the UI and usability requests.
@dwillmore , as long as Instructure hold's true that the number of votes doesn't influence the priority of the response, then I think the current system is manageable. Post here and we can get admin community support over the 30 votes mark!
Another item to vote for:
The ability to edit Global Announcements (this request also asks for a "preview" button that can be used prior to saving).
It needs 7 more votes to get it moved to the next stage.
Thanks!
Already voted!
27 now.
Here's one that I had initially poo-pooed until @mlattke (perhaps unintentionally) lit a fire under me: .
Essentially, we set up observers in our systems, but they aren't even second-class users -- they receive practically no notifications, even when they are requested. I spent a while testing exactly which notifications they receive, and it's very, very basic.
I'd love for this to get up-voted, if only so we can get a real response from Canvas about it (a fix would be even better, but a response would be keen).
Thank you, @SethBattis !! Couldn't agree with you more!

I would like to add one, it just opened for voting this month:
You use to be able to go to the "Department Level" directly from a course's Course Details page but that option went away after the "edit" button on the page left. Now if you are in a course and discover that the issue you are investigating is either at the Sub-Account/Department level or in multiple courses in that Sub-Account you have to navigate through the Sub-Accounts to get there (and hope you know where to start on the first try).
As admins, my team gets questions from our faculty using PCs in our computer labs and computer classrooms who cannot see some of the buttons on the right side of their course(s). This is because screen resolutions are set differently for the projectors. Please consider voting for this one...thanks in advance.
I raised a separate thread on feature ideas for voting namely these items
There are a number of ideas up for voting that I would like to at least see considered as would make my life as an admin much easier! So if you could vote for these that would be great
I cannot delete the original post - can someone do so for me?
I just messaged @Renee_Carney and asked her to delete it.
could I shamelessly ask for some votes for
Thanks!
