How do you work with multiple accounts?

Hi,

We have a request from our business school which is the following:

A student creates a Catalog account with their gmail, yahoo, etc email address and then enrolls into MBA program/course within Catalog. After they are accepted into the MBA program they are provided with UMD login credentials. They want to be able to combine these two accounts with one enrollment. However, the SIS ID/UID lives with the UMD account and not their original personal email account in Canvas. Is there a way to attain access for these individuals in Canvas without merging accounts and without having them enroll in the same MBA course again in Catalog with their UMD account?

The reason being is that they will complete modules in Catalog/Canvas before acceptance and the admins want access to this data throughout their time in the MBA program.

I'm not too familiar with Catalog,but it looks like it users the same setup for users as Regular Canvas.

Instead of Merging the account, change them. 

Logins - Canvas LMS REST API Documentation 

You can change a login or Add a second login.

Example:

Userlogin is bob@notyahoo.com

Add:

 SIS IDUID

Then you have accounts like this.

All the data would stay in the same account because it's the same account.   You could then delete the bob@notyahoo.com login if you wanted it to no longer be available.

We know this. Is their an easier way -- this would only help with logins not the enrollments though.

Updating the account in that way will retain the enrollment for the user. So there would be no need to re-enroll as it's still the same account.   It would be a challenge to match them up.  

Otherwise,  Looks like the catalog has or uses the Progress API check that then at time of completion enroll or re-enroll.
