The Instructure Product Team is working on implementing a better solution to collect your feedback. Read Shiren's blog for more information.
Writing instructors often spend a lot of time trying to provide feedback to students on their writing assignments. One example of an area that can be tedious to grade is grammar. In order to provide students with adequate feedback on their grammatical errors, I type out a list of the errors that are most evident for each writing assignment. This requires me to type a new list for each student for each writing assignment which can take a great deal of time. Even if I keep the feedback brief, I still have to type a new list for each student, and this must be done for each writing assignment. Example: "Grammatical errors: sentence fragments, missing punctuation, run-on sentences, and first person pronouns"
Rather than having to type out each grammatical error that is evident in a text (usually done in the comments section of the rubric), it would be great if instructors could create a list of grammatical errors that could be individually check marked in a box if that particular error is evident (example: sentence fragments, run-on sentences, comma errors, etc.). This would save grading time and allow students to review the grammatical errors they need to work on improving. It would also allow instructors to include as many or as few grammatical errors in their list as they want so they can choose what areas to focus on for each assignment.
