Peer Reviews in Mobile

TL;DR

Peer Reviews should function fully within Android and iOS mobile apps.

Describe your mobile idea.

Last Fall was archived with 44 votes. Peer Reviews via browser add a layer of instruction to my assignments. Students are reflective, and they are able to collaborate with their classmates. I would like to see the peer review process to be fully functional through the mobile Andorid and iOS apps.

How will this mobile idea benefit Canvas users?

Students learn in many places besides where they have access to a desktop. Yes, Peer Reviews work on the mobile browsers, but I think having a seamless integration into the app would encourage more students to complete reviews when learning is more convenient for them. Also, in schools with a 1:1 iPad initiative, students would be able to be more efficient with their reviews (because the need to bounce between mobile browser and the app would be eliminated).

Does anyone have anything to add? Last time Peer Reviews in Mobile was a feature idea, it was archived due to a low vote count. I'd like to submit this soon, but I want to make sure people are on board.

Hi Kristin,

Thanks for championing Peer Review for mobile app. Looks like the mobile app is the only way to get this feature in the future since Canvas does not support mobile browsers.

I hope this time your request can garner enough votes to move forward. Seems like a no-brainer.

How can we garner more votes for this important feature idea? It's a shame that the 44 votes from the last go-around can't be recounted here. Is there a way to contact those 44 voters?

So sad to know that the peer review function does not exist in the Canvas Student app. I was working through the creation of a peer review assignment with an instructor and the question, "What does the student see in the app" came up.  Any news on if this could be on a future roadmap?

Hi  @victoria-maloy  ~ It would be absolutely amazing if/when this makes it to mobile! https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/4918 was archived with 65 votes in the fall of 2016. Luckily, the mobile team has access to all past ideas, including those in Cold Storage. If you - and/or others! - think it's worthwhile, I'm willing to resubmit this idea. Should we try?!

There certainly are more mobile app users now.  With the growth of the https://community.canvaslms.com/groups/cmug group, I imagine there would be more votes if the idea was resubmitted.  On the other hand, perhaps someone ( @ctitmus ‌?) could let us know the state of the mobile roadmap.  If it's too full now, I don't know that resubmitting the idea now will help.

Hi  @victoria-maloy  and  @KristinL ,

I know that currently our mobile team is working on a UI upgrade for the Student app on both platforms. Once that is complete, the focus will turn to smaller areas of the app. I know that peer reviews is something that is under consideration for that phase.

Our students are doing so much via mobile - seems like we really need peer (and, I would argue, self) evaluations on mobile, too! Couldn't get into cold storage to upvote, but I'm very supportive!

Of course, things change, but it's on the radar!

We are a 1:1 iPad school and really would love for Peer Review to work on the student app since it does NOT work well on the Safari app.

I'm not sure if this current Idea Conversation has been linked anywhere, but I wanted to highlight: Allow students to do peer reviews on mobile platform. I would love to see Peer Reviews come to mobile, and it's been a wish of mine for over five years. At one point, the mobile team shared that there is a very low percentage of assignments/activities that require Peer Reviews, so they were unable to allocate the time to the project when other features would have a larger impact. You never know! I hope that others find the new conversation. 😀
