Canvas Parent enhances the potential for any parent to quickly engage in their child’s education. Parents can review upcoming or past assignments, check on grades, and receive course announcements.

Access to Canvas Parent is managed by the student's institution.

Download Canvas Parent in the iTunes Store. Version 1.0 requires iOS 8.0 or later.
Download Canvas Parent in the Play Store. Version 1.0 requires Android 4.2 or later.

View Student Courses and Grades

The Courses tab displays the list of courses where their students are enrolled. For each course, parents can see course grades, the syllabus, and assignments and events. Grades display according to the course grading scheme.

View Student Assignments and Events

Assignments and events can be viewed by course or week. Parents can set reminders for a specific assignment or event, which are sent to mobile devices as push notifications.

Set Alerts for Student Activity

The app settings allow parents to set alerts for specific assignment and grade activity. Alerts are displayed in the Alerts tab in the app.

Looking forward to testing this app out! Way to go Canvas on developing an app just for parents. We have a middle/high school on our college campus that uses Canvas and could benefit from this!

erinhallmark - At InstructureCon we heard mention that the parent app might work with self-hosted instances of Canvas. Any information on this? Thanks!

When do we expect to have a "non-beta" release of the App? I can't seem to see full release date?

Hi, Isaac,

I don't believe the app is or will be available for self-hosted instances, since it requires the Canvas Parent feature option for access. You could possibly check back after the feature is no longer in beta though and see if anything has changed.

The app is currently in beta and includes a Focus Group: Canvas Parent. You're welcome to join and share your thoughts if you'd like! Otherwise, the full release date is pending based on user feedback and additional engineering development.
