0% weighted pre-test quiz results in "F" displaying in Student's Grade?

Jump to solution

Hello 🙂

I want the students to have a score for their pretest quiz at the beginning of the course so they can see where they are at, (and so I can) but NOT have the pre-test quiz score calculate into their final grade as displayed. I have a grading scheme assigned for the course, but no auto-settings for late work, etc. as I'd rather handle that manually myself.

I have a Pre-Test Quiz that is graded/scored, but has a 0% weight for the course grade.

Even with this Pre-Text quiz having a 0% weight, the students see an "F" because this pretest seems to initiate a grade calculation for the course ("current grade").

Is there a better way to set this up?

Thank you!

Hello Jamie,

Rather than making the quiz a "Graded Quiz", you may want to make it a "Practice Quiz".  This will still grade the quiz and show them (and you) what they got right and wrong, but it will not give it an assignment group and will not include it in the student's grade for the course.

Excellent! thank you so much!

So strange that including a quiz in a 0% weighted groups should still trigger a letter grade in GradeBook! GTK!
