Active Link in Feedback Comments

Jump to solution

Hi,

Can we have active url links in feedback comments? I wanted to insert some url so that students can watch when they view their feedbacks. Found out that the link do not click or be clicked.

Any suggestion?

@ashok_thapa ‌, we have two feature ideas open for this: one is for active hyperlinks in the annotations made in DocViewer, and the other is for clickable links in the SpeedGrader submission comments field. We hope you'll contribute to the conversations at  https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/13334-make-links-in-speedgrader-comments-clickable and https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/4332-allow-html-in-assignment-comments

Hi stefaniesanders

Thank you for the information. how are you or other institution working around it in the meantime?

Inbox is another I could think of but there will be no track of the context here.

Thank you.

Ashok

@ashok_thapa ‌, I am not aware of a workaround. When I was teaching I nearly always included a URL in the submission comment field, and along with it I included an instruction to my students that they would need to copy the URL and paste it into a new tab or window.

It's disappointing that this question is marked as 'Solved' when it really hasn't been. Stefanie links to a conversation that has been open for over four and a half years. Why hasn't Canvas acted on this issue? It would be an immensely helpful feature.

I mean, Google Classroom has this feature... Hint-hint...

@williams_sean - That sounds like an awesome idea to present to the idea conversations process! I did a quick search through the open ideas, and I didn't see one. (...though it doesn't mean I missed it). I think many teachers and students would see the value in adding the feature to comments. If you create the idea, link back here so more people can find and support it. 😎

I'm glad you agree, @klundstrum. Here is the link that I referenced (and which was shared here by @Stefanie), which was originally posted on 1/8/2016: https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/4332-allow-html-in-assignment-comments. Hopefully we can get the folks at Canvas to prioritize this, since it seems like there's a ton of support for it!

Only four votes or ratings have been made on this idea since the Community moved to this new space, so it's time to spread the word. It would be awesome, yes. 😊
