Annotations in Canvas App

We are trying to have students annotate PDFs through Canvas, but we are not seeing the Edit PDF tool when our students open up a PDF in the Canvas app.  Our app is up to date.  Are we missing something?

I'm not sure what might be going wrong, but I'd double-check this guide to make sure the students are following these steps - How do I submit a PDF assignment with annotations in the Canvas app on my iOS device?

In addition, I'm going to share this with the Canvas Mobile Users​ group to see if they can help!

Hi!  Double check that both the operating system AND the app is up to date. Canvas for iOS updated in the last couple of days. Before the most recent update, a quick reboot of the device and the current app helped. Let us know if the new update helps your students.

Both the iOS and app are updated.  I turned the iPad off and on again.  I'm still not seeing the edit option.

 @janna_carney , I apologize that we have left you hanging here. Did you contact Canvas Support to see if they could figure out why your students were not seeing the Edit PDF icon on their devices? Please take a moment to update the Community on how/if you were able to resolve the issue, and if you still need assistance, please post a follow-up. Thanks!

One thing that may come into play:

Currently it only works when navigating to a linked pdf document inside an assignment description. If you are accessing the file through the files feature, the annotation icon doesn't show. That is something in our backlog that we want to do! Was this the case perhaps?
