Unlike submitted “paper” files for assignments, media recordings with the new media player in Canvas doesn’t have a very noticeable link to download student submissions, whether they be audio or video recordings.
I happened to spot a way that teachers could get access to the actual file of the student submission…but it might involve using “please?”
This quick video shows where those files are located.
Thanks,
-Chris

Good news. This functionality will be re-enabled in the new SpeedGrader, which is scheduled to be released to Feature Preview on June 21. Media and Studio submissions will once again be downloadable as part of this update.
The new SpeedGrader will be available to all users, but it will need to be enabled using the feature flag “Performance and Usability Updates for SpeedGrader.” Mark your calendars and make sure you don't forget to turn it on!
You can find more details about the updates for SpeedGrader here
Can you verify that the file downloaded is actually playable? WE had an assignment where students uploaded them saying their names and every file I download is a 3k webm file that will not play and says is corrupt.
