Assignments with no due dates in the gradebook

I have created some assignments with no due dates--and prefer to keep them that way--but they do not appear in the gradebook. Is it possible to remedy this? Thanks for your help!

If your courses are stet up with Grading Periods (terms or semester) at our institution. When assignment don't have an explicit due date set in the assignment settings, Canvas can't put it in the current grading period and teachers don't see the assignment in the gradebook (by default, the gradebook shows assignments for the current grading period).
