Associate list of students to the grader role.

Is there a way to link a student to a grader in a course so the grader can only see a specific set of students in the gradebook and does not have edit privileges anywhere else?

One way to do this would be to create a section, add the students to that section, enroll the "grader" into that section of the Canvas course and select the option "Can interact with users in their section only":

This should accomplish what you are looking for.

Hello  @Robbie_Grant ,

Would that restriction remain if we merged the sections together? We are trying to allow the grader for that group to only see the group of students from their high school for dual credit courses. If we merge those sections so the instructor only has to manage one course, would each grader still only be able to see the students from the original section?

Yes, this is the way we manage our cross listed courses.  We have courses that have a lead instructor with multiple sections.  The instructor then enrolls his TAs into the course and into the sections he wants them to grade. He then restricts their access with the checkbox for "Can interact with users in their section only".  The TAs only see their section in the grade book and can only interact with the students in their section of the larger Canvas course.

Hi  @pattymcconnell ‌

Depending on how your Canvas Admin has configured teacher permissions, new sections (unrelated to your more official sections defined in your SMS/Schedule) can be created at the course-level in a classroom. Then these sections can then be used for what Robbie has described, and still maintain the primary instructor's access.  You  can learn how at https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12971-4152719644 

If you do not see the the option to add sections in your course settings, you can still ask you Admins to do this for you.
