Buttons not copying correctly

Jump to solution

I use buttons in my courses for redirecting and going back to certain pages.  When copying the course that had buttons, some of the buttons will copy over and update the course #, while others do not.  I am not sure of the pattern, but below is an example. these buttons work great but i am frustrated that the course number does not update.  Is there a problem with the code, the code below looks the same, the only thing i can think of is because it is the "home" page that doesn't change.  Help!

This button will copy over and automatically update to the new course # (55743)

<div class="btn" role="button"><span style="color: #000000;"><a style="color: #000000; text-decoration: none;" title="Modules" href="https://tcsedsystem.instructure.com/courses/55743/modules" data-api-endpoint="https://tcsedsystem.instructure.com/api/v1/courses/55743/modules" data-api-returntype="[Module]">Modules</a></span></div>

However, in the same course, when it was copied, it kept the old course #, it didnt change to 55743.

<div class="btn" role="button"><span style="color: #000000;"><a style="color: #000000; text-decoration: none;" title="Course Welcome Page" href="https://tcsedsystem.instructure.com/courses/55550" data-api-endpoint="https://tcsedsystem.instructure.com/api/v1/courses/55550" data-api-returntype="Page">Course Welcome Page</a></span></div>

Thanks for any insight!

Mark

I actually think I solved my own problem!  What I did, is, instead of just using the course number as the link, I went to the actual home page in the pages section and copied that URL and used that in the button.  It appears to have worked and the number is updated.  Here is what I used:

<div class="btn" role="button"><span style="color: #000000;"><a style="color: #000000; text-decoration: none;" title="Course Welcome Page" href="https://tcsedsystem.instructure.com/courses/55550/pages/welcome-to-fo613-psychopathology" data-api-endpoint="https://tcsedsystem.instructure.com/api/v1/courses/55550/pages/welcome-to-fo613-psychopathology" data-api-returntype="Page">Course Welcome Page</a></span></div>

Well, that kind of worked.  It takes them back to the correct page, but it doesn't technically take them to the "home" page.  So i think it is an ok work around.
