Can I "unsubmit" blank assignment so it repopulates student To Do List?

I have a student intentionally submitting blank assignments in order to erase them from her "To Do" list, so when she shows her parent, it appears that she has turned in all her work. In Google CR, I was able to unsubmit work when students would attempt this trick. I don't see that feature in Canvas. Is this really the case?
