I use the calendar in Canvas to have my students sign up for appointments with me (I teach at a college). I request that the students please sign up for their appointments at least a few hours in advance so that I have notice. I hate thinking I have a minute to run to grab lunch and then have a student sign up for an appointment that starts in 5 mins or waking up thinking I have time to grade some papers that morning and finding out that a student signed up for an appointment in the middle of the night. I am always happy to meet with students but planning my day is much easier with notice and I don't want a student to think I'll be there when I've run out to grab food or got called into a meeting. It is way too time consuming to go in an manually close/delete appointments as they approach. Is there a way to have a setting in Canvas to "close" an appointment when it is within "X" hours of that appointment?

@mbrimley currently the deadline for students to reserve an appointment is, as you've found, the start time of each appointment. I agree with you that an alternative to deleting an upcoming unreserved timeslot in advance would be very helpful.
