Can I use the H5P.com framework in the: https://canvas.instructure.com/

Jump to solution

I've previously prototyped H5P in the Moodle LMS via an available plug-in.

However, to use H5P.com in Canvas LMS, there needs to be a Canvas Administrator

set-up. Is there a way to do that in the https://canvas.instructure.com/  public site.

I've communicated with Svein-Tore about using H5P.com and he replied that..

"...We already have multiple Instructure accounts up and running. Would you like

me to ask one of the US accounts to add you?.."

He did ask if I worked at Instructure,  I do not.

You're welcome,  @rgarcelon , and thanks for those additional details! Because Free for Teachers does not incorporate an administrative role, this type of specialized testing cannot be accomplished in canvas.instructure.com. We’ve asked ASU’s Customer Success Manager (CSM) to reach out to that school’s Canvas Admin to see if there is anything they might be able to do to accommodate your request.

@rgarcelon ‌, have you contacted your school's Canvas Admin to see if they might be able to help you with an instance to test H5P in that account rather than in canvas.instructure.com (Free for Teachers) which does not provide administrator access?

Hi Stephanie,

Thank you for your quick reply.  I will hopefully be able to contact my university's (ASU)Canvas Administrator after I begin my contract position there on October 4th (in ~2 weeks).

My position at Arizona State University will be focused on improving learning with theadvent of ASU's LMS migration to Canvas.

In the mean time (before I begin at ASU), I was hoping to prototype and try out the H5Pframework in the canvas.instructure.com (Free for Teachers) environment. I surmised thatusers are not allowed administrator access to Instructure's site.

The email reply I received from H5P seemed to be saying that Instructure has someexisting internal implementation of the H5P.com framework.  If this is so, I was hoping to beable to use it to start my prototyping of the H5P framework via the  https://canvas.instructure.com/site before I begin my role at ASU.  Even if there is interest in a Canvas integrationwith H5P at ASU, it might be some time (months) before they are able to implement it,since they are just recently beginning their transition to Canvas.

If there is any possibly way I could use the H5P framework in the https://canvas.instructure.com/site, I'd like to look into that possibility.

Thanks again for your time and consideration,

 - Ray

Thank you again Stephanie, for looking into what my options are for H5P.com integrationin Canvas.  It may be a little premature to engage with ASU’s Customer Success Manager until I actually begin my employment there in two weeks.
