Hello,  @s155885  Welcome to the Canvas Community! We're always happy to hear from students, and we're glad that you found us. As you've discovered, the Canvas Conversations tool is designed to allow teachers and students who are enrolled in the same class to send messages to one another (although schools have the option to restrict that even further so that students can only send messages to their teacher, but not to fellow students). The Conversations tool is designed that way so that schools can comply with the set of federal regulations known as FERPA. These regulations are designed to protect students' privacy. To comply with FERPA, your school must take steps to ensure that students participating in an online class cannot use the platform to see the information of other students with whom they are not sharing a class. This is why you aren't able to send messages to students who are not in the same class as you are.

We hope you'll take this opportunity to provide your teacher and your school's administrators your feedback about how the online part of your education is working or not working for you—and by all means, ask them about FERPA, which is designed to protect your privacy.

Here in the Canvas Community, we have several hundred thousand members participating from around the world who are always ready to provide you help on how to use Canvas's features, and whenever you have questions, please feel free to post them to the Find Answers‌ space. (I've moved your question to that area.) When you have specific questions about how your school is using Canvas, please know that the members of this Community generally don't have access to specific schools' courses and accounts, so directing those questions to someone at your school will get you quicker and more specific answers.

Thanks again for coming to the Community.

Also,  @s155885 ‌, Canvas has the capability to allow all students to send messages to any other student, but whether a particular student can actually do this depends on how the school utilizes Canvas's features. Some schools choose to enroll all of their students in a single course so that every student can message any other student; some schools lock down student-to-student messaging completely; and some schools adopt a policy that falls somewhere between those extremes. If you think your school might be interested in pursuing a solution that would allow any student to message any other student or teacher, here's an example of how it might be done: https://community.canvaslms.com/thread/21889-school-wide-enrollment-course?sr=inbox&ru=82082
