I *think* this may be a function of your browser an not necessarily of Canvas Commons. For example, I searched for documentation on this for the Google Chrome browser, and I found the following:
I imagine there are similar steps available for the Mozilla Firefox browser...or whatever other browser you are currently using.
Keep in mind that this may remove search history terms/words you've used on other sites, too...if that is important to you.
