Changing course uploaded file name or location

Does changing a file name mean I have to go back to the page or assignment and reattach the file (whether it be an image, video, or pdf)? What about if I don't change the file name but move it to another folder within the Files section inside the same course?

Canvas links will update if you move the file in question in the Files.  Each file is actually referenced by an ID number in links, not by its name.  Same situation if you rename the file.
