Comments on Student's Discussion in Speed Grader

Jump to solution

Is there a way to make comments on a student's discussion while in speed grader?  I would want this to remain private just like the grade is.  These comments would be in addition to the rubric.

Thanks

Janet

 @jmyers7 ‌,

What  @rmurchshafer ‌ said is accurate.  I would like to add that we have faculty that note comments they are consistently telling students.  They compile one post in the discussion for those comments and add the addition notation that individual feedback can be located in the assignment feedback.  This not only saves the instructor time in making the same comment over and over but it informs the learner where to locate additional feedback.

Janet,

Yes there is.  Just like with Assignments, when you are in SpeedGrader there is a comments section on the lower right side of the page.  You can post comments there and they will only be visible to you and the student.

How do I grade a graded discussion in SpeedGrader?

I do use the comments section in the lower right corner. I would also like to be able to highlight or put a comment directly beside (close to) what the student actually wrote. Is there anyway to do that?

Janet,

Comments directly on the document that are submitted are only available in DocViewer.  You could post this as a feature idea https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-14903-75187841183 and other can vote it up for possible consideration.

Another suggestion is to include a rubric for discussions for grading and comments within discussions.

I do have a rubric also. And I use that also. I might take a look at Doc Viewer
