I don't have the Commons Icon in the menu/tool bar anymore. Is this a summer thing? I had it in June. It seemed to go away when my summer courses went away.

It shouldn't be a "summer thing".  I would check with your school's Canvas administrator or someone from your school's Online Learning / eLearning / Distance Learning department to see if they have any thoughts on this.  They may need to reach out to their assigned Customer Success Team at Instructure to do some troubleshooting.
