Creating a Course Section

Colleagues,

I'm attempting to manually create a course section and add students. I've read the guides and followed the steps, However, when I reach the step to assign a student to a section (People > Edit Sections), the section that I created never appears. (I Browse and I type the new Section name. Neither work.) Does the course need to be published before I can perform this step?

Because you used the word "Browse," it leads me to believe that you might be mixing a manually created Canvas course with an internal Canvas section. This document https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-add-a-section-to-a-course-as-an-instruc...

discusses a Canvas section. Within a Canvas course, instructors can create sections to organize students or differentiate assignments. Hope this helps and that I'm not way off track with this response.

Brain fart. I was attempting this with a 2020 course rather than a 2021 course. Works great when you have the right one. 😃
