Duplicate assignment with specified sections

Is there a way to duplicate assignment where the "assign" field is to a subset of the class (various discussion sections in my large enrollment class)? If I have select "duplicate" from the vertical ellipsis menu, the "assign" field is not present. I have to click on "assign" and repeat the selection process (which, in itself, is really clunky in Canvas and tedious as I have to input multiple discussion sections instead of a single lecture section).

Greetings! This does sound pretty frustrating! I checked the following guide - How do I duplicate an assignment? - and it had the following, "Copied assignments are always assigned to everyone in the course; differentiated assignments are not retained for individual users, groups, or sections." Thus, this is a baked-in Canvas feature that can't be changed. 😞
One thing you could do if you are interested is add this as an "Idea" for Canvas to consider - How do I create a new idea conversation in the Canvas Community?
