Can I send a email from Outlook to a user in Canvas as a notification or email?

We have off campus instructors that use Canvas and don't use outlook email. When there Active Directory passwords are about to expire it is sent to Outlook accounts and the instructors that just use Canvas don't get the email and their passwords expire and then are no longer able to log into Canvas. I would like to think of a solution for those users, besides just telling them they will have to check their Outlook, because they won't.

Thanks!

rtadmin, no, there is no way to start an email outside of Canvas and have it get forwarded/pushed into Canvas. My recommendation, and what we do, is to encourage all faculty to have their outlook email forwarded to an email they do check and/or have it linked with their phone.

Kona makes an important point. There are probably other institutional messages that those faculty are supposed to be getting as well because they're not checking their emails. Sending them notification of password changes through Canvas masks the bigger issue that they need to be checking the school's email.

That said, you may be able to use Canvas Conversations portion of the REST API to send the message through Canvas.
