I have read previous questions concerning integrating Articulate Storyline produced content into Canvas, and I cannot get any of the posted answer to work for me. I am using Storyline 2 and attempting to create individual slides to embed in Canvas pages to add some interactivity to a Canvas course, but I want to do this directly within Canvas without having to host the Storyline files on another server.
Most of what I am finding either in the Canvas Community or through a Google search appears to show examples using the previous Canvas UI with some, no longer available, options such as the upload ZIP file button. When I do upload the ZIP file and attempt to embed it in a Page, I do not see the ZIP file expanded with the option to choose "player.html" as demonstrated in "How to Upload an Articulate Storyline Zip File to Canvas." If I publish the Storyline slide for LMS, upload it to Canvas in a folder unzipped, and embed "launcher.html" in a Page, I keep getting a message in the pop-up window that says that the link is broken.
Is there an issue with changes between either Canvas, Storyline, or both that have broken the ability to easily embed a slide in a page without having to host on another server? We have a server from which this can be done if this is the only possible option; however, we have two people within our department who are trained and have access to host files on the server, so if those two individuals are out at the same time, which they will be in a couple of weeks, all work of this sort comes to a halt.
There has to be a better way.
I partly answered my own question. I went back and reviewed the YouTube video I linked to in the original post and discovered that that was demonstrating how to add Storyline content as SCORM to include in an Assignment. This function does still work; however, this is not what I am attempting to accomplish as I do not want the learner to have to leave the flow of the Module, but simply be able to interact with a Storyline slide as part of the Module then continue through the remainder of the content. Perhaps, I am asking for something that cannot be done without hosting the content somewhere else first.
Were you able to find any additional information regarding your question? It does not look like the user’s community has any experience with this application. I am going to go ahead and mark this question as assumed answered. This will not prevent anyone from replying or finding this question.
From what I can tell, I cannot integrate Storyline into a Page in Canvas and have all of the functionality as you would if you save Storyline as SCORM and integrate it into an assignment. If I want to have any type of interactivity in Storyline, I would have to save as SCORM, embed in an Assignment, which would cause the user to have to leave the flow of the Module. So, I believe this can be marked as assumed answered.
I have been using Storyline to add content to my pages. I do not use the Assignment pages because I do not need the SCORM to report anything to Canvas. I am just using Storyline to add interactivity to the pages. Is this what you are trying to do?
I can help if you still need help.
@kathy_harris Partly, and I probably should have been clearer about what I meant. Not only did I want to have interactivity, but I was also hoping to take advantage of Storyline's quizzing to have knowledge checks, and this is the part that I was having the difficulty with getting to work within a page.
Can you provide any guidance at all in using Storyline content on a content page. I have read so much about this that I am totally confused I just simply need to know if I can get an image with hover over to show additional text. I didn't think it was going to be this hard when I started this. Simple steps with clarity is what we novice users need.
Thanks in advance.
