Exporting Quizzes to Blackboard Tests

Jump to solution

Updated

Original Subject Line: Can you export a Canvas Quiz to Blackboard Tests?

Hello all,

I need to export a Canvas Quiz into Blackboard. Our College is running both Blackboard and Canvas. We have an instructor that created their quiz in Canvas and now wants to bring it into Blackboard. They don't want to recreate the test by hand.

Any suggestions?

Diane

Thanks for the info, unfortunately I am not using Respondus.

A colleague and I figured it out and were able to export the Canvas quiz

into Blackboard tests. First we exported the entire Canvas course and saved

the file. Then we imported that file into a Blackboard temporary course

shell. Next we exported the specific quiz from Blackboard in the Blackboard

format and finally imported the specific test into the live course.

Thanks for you help!

Here's what I would do, assuming you have the Respondus 4.0 software:

  • Export the Quiz or Quizzes, one at a time
  • Download and save the .zip file
  • Open each .zip file (one at a time) in your Respondus 4.0 software.  The steps are: 1) Choose the QTI 1.1+ personality  2) import a file and choose "zipped IMS QTI package (.zip)" as the type of file you're importing. 3) Preview to check for errors.  4) enter a new name for this quiz  5) finish
  • Now you can do 1 of 2 things: first, switch personalities in Respondus 4.0 to "Blackboard" and publish this quiz to your course .... or 2nd, you could download and save the new imported file as a QTI file and see if that uploads into a Blackboard course successfully.

In order to make your question more searchable here in the Canvas Community, I wanted to let you know that I am going to slightly modify your subject line and also tag your question with keywords.  This will make it easier for people to search for your topic should they have similar questions here in the Community.  If the revised subject line doesn't accurately reflect what you are asking in the body of your message, please let me know, and we can make any necessary corrections.  I hope this is okay with you.
