External tool submissions not going through

I am an instructor and I set up one of my assignments on Canvas to use the external tool submission, using Google Docs.

When my students clicked the submit button on their copy of the assignment, it would tell them it was submitted. However, on their end in Canvas it still said nothing had been submitted and on my end there was no submission either.  Thinking it might be a delay, I waited several hours. However, the assignments still did not come in and I was bombarded with emails by students asking what had happened to their work. 

Any ideas on what is causing this issue and how to fix it?  Thanks!

We are experiencing delays as well. The time stamp a student is receiving for when they submitted the assignment is not always the time the teacher gets when they receive their submission. In some cases, Canvas is marking the assignment late, even if they submitted it before the due date/time with the teacher monitoring it. I'll double up the question, has anyone else experienced this or have a fix?
