Forwarding/copying an inbox message containing latex math

How do I forward an inbox message containing latex math? Sometimes a student asks a math question through the canvas inbox that I have already answered for another student. In this case the easiest thing is to forward the message I have already written. However, when I select forward, the message is forwarded is such a way that it can't be edited. In other words, I cannot change any personal information that may have been included in the message, like the student's name. Is there another way? Is there another way? I tried copy/paste, and everything, except the latex math is copied, so that doesn't work either.
