Global Navigation Will Not Minimize

On the home pages of my current and previous courses, but not upcoming courses that do not have content yet, I see a large white bar where the expanded global navigation should be. It blocks access to the left hand menu. It only appears on the home page but no other parts of the classroom. So our workaround right now is to click on any of the links in the home page to get to another place in the classroom, where the menu can then be accessed.

Clicking the arrow that says "minimize global navigation" does nothing.

I have reached out to my campus Canvas Support, and they suggested that I delete the home page and recreate it without copying and pasting. I don't know how that would impact my classes from last quarter, which also have the same issue. Before I do all this work again, I'm hoping somebody has another solution!

Hello  @lfreberg  Welcome to the Canvas Community.  Thank you for posting your question.  That's quite strange.  I've never seen anything like that before.  In addition to your local Canvas Support team, have you reached out to the folks at Instructure's Help Desk to see if they might be able to further troubleshoot this with you?  https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-17624-how-to-contact-canvas-support  I would recommend giving them a call or submit a ticket online.  I hope this will be of help to you, Laura.

I’m always glad when a problem I have isn’t really obvious to everyone! I’m a fairly new (since Jan 20) Canvas user, so I’m not very confident. I think I just got an email from Canvas now. We’ll see what they have to say!

Just got off chat with Canvas Support. I had an odd bit of HTML code for a phone number to Canvas Support that was causing problems--probably interfering with a recent update. I removed the code and now all is well! Yay!
