Hi @MarioMata,

Have you:

  1. used "View as Student" as described in the How do I view a course as a test student using Student View? - Instructure Community - 1122 support article?
  2. when using "View as Student", did you submit any assignments, reply to a discussion, or take any quizzes?

If you have, you should:

  1. use "View as Student" again and the "Reset Student" feature
  2. follow the guidance from Saginaw Valley State University in their https://svsu.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/1949/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=138894 to delete the "Student, Test" student (if there are multiple sections in the course, you might need to go into all of the sections and repeat the process)
  3. you should then be able to unpublish the course as described in the last section of the  How do I publish a course? - Instructure Community - 1185  support article

Does that help?

-Doug

If you have not already tried.. you can just click the publish to unpublish at the upper right hand corner.

Another option, if you want students to still see it..(my students used to freak if it was not on their dashboard) I would go in and just unpublish each module.. They will be able to see the course yet but not the content.  I turn modules on and off and assignments all the time so that I can grade the whole class before fielding questions or design a module before students start working on things).

Hi @MarioMata ,
In addition to the information provided to you by @DrTerriC and @dbrace , I just wanted to provide some additional information. As mentioned, you should be able to unpublish your course as long as there are no graded student submissions. Even if your course does have submissions, if there aren't any graded ones, then you can still unpublish your course.

However, do note that if you are using a paid canvas account for your school, your school's canvas admin has the ability to prevent teachers from unpublishing their courses after they publish it. If that is the case, please reach out to your school's canvas admin for assistance in unpublishing your course.

Hope this helps!
Noah
