How do I keep my font from changing?

Jump to solution

I've been turning my papers in in word document form. Usually they appear as they were (Times New Roman 12pt. font) but, when I turn it in the font and format changes. What can I do to fix this?

Hi  @jardinkg9530  Welcome to the Canvas Community. The Canvas DocViewer (as the program that previews your uploads is called) will generally render things in Times New Roman just fine.  There are some fonts where there are issues, however, which are covered here:  https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10033-415241392 .  Note, for example, that plain old Times is not supported.  If you find that you are getting points taken off, I would politely suggest to your instructor that he or she download your original file and compare it with what is being rendered in DocViewer, just in case there are indeed some issues.  (Which then should be reported straight away to the Canvas Support team.)  In case your instructor needs help with this, there is documentation on downloading a student's original submission here: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13088-415255024 .  But generally, the combination of Word with Times New Roman should not be causing issues; perhaps something else in the document is, which is why downloading the original may be important.  But you should use the first link as a future reference to help ensure that it does not keep happening.

I hope this helps a bit, Kiersten.  Good luck with things!
