How to I embed a powerpoint presentation?

Jump to solution

Some of the Canvas pages I've seen have interactive powerpoint slides embedded in them. But when I try to link a powerpoint presentation, it just appears as a blue hyperlink.

Solution without resorting to Google or OneDrive or O365 is to:

1. Insert the file.

2. Select the file link.

3. Select Link options.

4. Automatically open in-line preview.

Yes, this a simple way to embed the slides if all you need in Canvas is a static version of the presentation. Just note that whether it's .pptx or .ppts, it won't run. (Students can download the file and run it, if they wish.)

In order to have an embedded PowerPoint which you can run  inside of Canvas (as a presentation, with animation or interactivity), you do have to embed from OneDrive, (and maybe from Google Drive it will work, too).
