I am a teacher, I want to limit file uploads to Word365 documents from students' OneDrives. Assignment settings are: File Uploads, Restrict Upload File Types, docx.
When a student selects a file in the Office365 tab (actually OneDrive) and tries to attach it, they receive an error message, "invalid submission file type."
There is no problem if the upload file types are not restricted. But, then file types that are not viewable can be uploaded.

Hi @GeoffreyWheeler,
I do not have an exact answer for you (maybe someone else does) but based on sources provided below, the degree of restriction specificity that you are looking for does not seem to be supported/possible.
In short, it seems that it is not possible to combine virtual cloud storage locations and restricted file types.
