I suddenly needed to shift my work to an older computer (2011 Macbook pro) and I can't seem to see Canvas properly. Any suggestions?

My computer ran into technical issues midstream and I needed to transfer my stuff to an older computer we had at home, a 2011 Macbook. When I try to run Canvas on Chrome, it doesn't load properly and I can't see the courses I'm working on. I know it's older and the OS is already obsolete, but are there any workarounds just so I can keep the work going until my actual computer is fixed (maybe in a week)?

I sympathise. Nothing like a bit of computer stress to brighten the day.

I'm hoping that by simply updating the browser you might be good to go, here are the instructions for that https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en.

The age of the MacBook isn't as big of an issue as when it was last updated and what operating system is on it. If you haven't updated the operating system since 2013, you may not be able to install a supported browser on it.

The current versions of Firefox and Chrome require an updated operating system, although not as current as Safari.

• Firefox needs at least macOS 10.9 (Mavericks), which came out in October 2013.
• Chrome needs at least macOS 10.10 (Yosemite), which came out in October 2014.
• Safari 12 is the the minimum level supported, it came out in September 2018, but requires Mac OS 10.12 (Sierra) or newer. Sierra will run on a MacBook from 2010 or newer, but it didn't come out until September 2016. You would need to upgrade your operating system to upgrade Safari, so this is why we're suggesting Firefox or Chrome as quick fixes.

If you have an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, it may be more up to date. You can do many things with the mobile apps for Canvas and perhaps use the browser on the device for the others.
