Is there a way to "force" an integer answer (not rounding) in Equation Editor

I want to ask this question: Find the side value of a square with area of [area]. I want only whole number answers. What I've thought of is asking: Find the side value of a square with area of [side^2]. Didn't work; won't let me assign variable value. Find the side value of a square with area of [side]^2. Didn't work; will let me assign variable value, but leaves it as text; literally 3^2 I want to force evaluation after assignment of the variable. I would like it to say 9 if 3 is picked as the variable or 16 if 4 is picked as the variable, etc. I'm undercomplicating it right now, but let's say I would like to give 50 different questions with the side value going from 1 to 2500. Is there a way to do this?
