Is there anyway in Canvas to disable a user at the account level?

Jump to solution

Hi

Due to a variety of reasons such as Staff turnover, Students withdrawing from courses/programmes, third party consultants, etc... we need a way to stop them from accessing Canvas. However we do not want to delete the user. Just stop them from logging in.

Is there a way to do this, the only way we have found so far is to manually change the login details.

Cheers

Hello there,  @casey_beard ...

I think changing the user's login credentials is probably the best way to go at this point.  I searched for Feature Ideas here in the Canvas Community, and the only thing I could find was: https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/7427-disabledeactive-user-at-account-level" modifiedtitle="tru....  I hope this is helpful in some way for you.

Unless you can do it through your authentication system, changing the login details seems to be the only way.

Disabling a user seems to be a feature people would like, it comes up every now and then, eg: https://community.canvaslms.com/message/112325-re-disablingterminating-a-user-account

I have exactly the same question. It would be great to be able to disable a user on the account level. This is actually up for votes. Please vote to see it happening Smiley Happy
