Links Within Assignment Submissions

Jump to solution

I would like to be able to click on the links that are part of the documents my students submit for their assignments. Is there an easy way to do this? Or maybe Canvas could enable this feature? I want students to submit documents, but part of their documents are links to resources they plan to use. It would be nice if I could click on those links and have them open in a new window.

I would have to guess then, that the students aren't making the text hyperlinked before saving the document.  They are just text.

You can test this yourself using the student view and test student account.

When you download the documents and view them in Word, are the links hot?

This already works from Word files and PDFs.  What types of files are you asking students to submit?

My students submit Word files though Canvas, and I use SpeedGrader to review them, but the links are not hot within SpeedGrader. I am not aware of another way to view files through Canvas, but really I'm trying to quickly look at them while I grade and comment. How is this possible?

Oh my gosh, I just figured it out! Thank you! I can't click on it with the highlighter (duh!). Once I click over to the pointer/selector is works just fine. Thank you.
