Lost grades

I am a teacher at a high school in South Carolina and one of my students switched class periods, and when he did, I could no longer see the grades he made in Canvas. I was told it should reappear once the data is synched overnight, but it has been over a week.

 Is there a way to get it back that does not involve the student resubmitting them? 

Please advise.

When we have encountered this issue, we have found that if you manually add the student back to the original class period, submissions and scores will return.  You can get the information you need to manually enter the scores in the new course, then remove the student again.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sounds a bit complicated and risky given what others say. Naturally, my university has no IT support over Xmas break. 😉

In addition to the helpful information that you received from @tbirbeck, if you enrolled the student back into the course, the status of the student could be as deactivated.  You might want to have a conversation with your school's local Canvas administrator about this setting, but it may be an option for you.

How do I deactivate an enrollment in a course?
