No captioning in the New Rich Content Editor Media Recorder?

I am trying to add captions to the video I created through the media recorder in the New Rich Content Editor.  There is no CC to click for adding captions.  This is not accessible for my students. How do I add captions to videos I created using the New Rich Content Editor's media recorder.  

I used the following directions from the Canvas Guide but this does not work.

Canvas videos also support caption files. Once you record and save your video, learn how to add captions to a video.

Hi,  @todowd1 , there's a separate set of instructions for this in https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-16536-421298632 Clicking on the video to enlarge it should reveal the CC option.

Hi  @todowd1  !  I just practiced making a video with the RCE.  I also tried to follow the steps given, but didn't see the CC button either.  I then opened the video, but NOT in the edit mode.  When I did this, I was able to see the CC button and follow the instructions given.  Best of luck!

I'm having the same issue.  I recorded a video in the new RCE inside a page.  After recording and letting the video render the video appears but these are the only buttons that appear:

I've saved the page and then tried opening the video out of editing mode and still nothing.  Does it take more time for the CC button to appear?

If you copy the video link, you can follow the same steps with Amara that you did with the Old RCE.

Looks like this broken in the new RCE.  CC was there if you used the Recorder under the old RCE.

I tried to caption using Amara and the New RCE.  I had to use Studio to capture the video with captions I had made.  Maybe this is something that someone will work on.  Thanks  @todowd1  .

I have the same result, the cc option is not available on the video player used with new RCE recordings. Interestingly, I was able to copy the media ID specified in the iframe url, and place it into the HTML code the old RCE used, and it displayed the old way including the cc option.  Fiddling with HTML is not something everyone will want to do. I think this was just overlooked.  I can't find a mention of this in the https://community.canvaslms.com/groups/accessibility  group.  I wonder if this needs an Idea....

Although even if I use the old RCE and have a prepared .vtt caption file, I am not able to see it even after refreshing the browser or using a different one.  There is no radio button next to the "English" choice on cc.

I want students to be able to record videos as discussion posts directly via the RCE. This allows them to see and hear each other and makes for a more "human" online course experience. It would be extremely helpful if auto-generated captions could be included as part of this process, in the same way they are for (for example) Flipgrid. Auto-captions are better than no captions. No captions is poor practice from an accessibility perspective.
