Permanently hiding assignments that need grading from the To Do sidebar

I am a TA for several classes, alongside taking some as a student. My canvas To Do sidebar is constantly overrun with notifications to grade assignments which push actual class assignments out of view. They can of course be hidden, but as soon as another submission comes in it comes back again.
I have looked through all the notifications and course preferences and haven't found a way to hide or block them. I assume if I were a Non-Grading TA, this wouldn't be an issue, but we do need to grade for these courses.
TLDR: Can To Do sidebar items be hidden/blocked on a course or assignment basis?
