Photos taken on iPhone can not be uploaded

I need to upload some of the photos on iPhone XS to Canvas but the photos are not shown up during file selections. Other images files are fine. Anyone knows what's the problem?

Are you clicking on the option to upload from your photo library?

No, from the DCIM folder. I enabled the file extension and found out those images are ended with .heic. that's the problem?

I think .heic is for moving images. 

When you get to the options to find a photo, pick your photo library as the source.

The heic images not showing up so I can add them

Trying to convert heic into jpg first,as no heic photos can be opened on pc directly.
