Prevent PDF File Preview

Jump to solution

Does anyone know how to prevent a file preview of a pdf on a content page? We secure our PDFs to prevent copying and pasting for copyright issues but the preview feature strips this security and allows copying and pasting of content.

Thank you!

Hi  @kstewart3 ‌ - Yes, there sure is...and believe me, you're not alone in not realizing that this is actually something Canvas allows one to do without even modifying the HTML and is smack dab in the middle of the Instructor's Guide.  Check this page:  https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10220-415268091  It works exactly as the instructions indicate and will disable that magnifying glass icon next to the file name altogether.

Thank you! I'm glad it's an easy fix.

Greetings! I had a teacher ask about this today. I clicked on the link provided in the solution and it took me to a managing video options guide. I realized that the solution was from a while back. Is there still a solution for this?

Thank you!

This should be corrected, this fix no longer works.
