Problems with Studio/Arc Screen Recorder

The screen recorder available through ARC is suddenly not working, although I've used it before. It asks me to download the program, which I have from before. Even after deleting and downloading again, it's not working.

The symbol appears on the taskbar, but when clicking on it it seems to move up in the left side corner. No record button appears. In the task manager it's listed as "not responding"

I've checked for java, popups ++, can't fint anything wrong. 

Any suggestions?

Hello there,  @b_s_torset ...

I have been reviewing older questions here in the Canvas Community, and I stumbled upon your question.  I wanted to check in with you because I noticed that there hasn't been any new activity in this topic since the reply from  @klundstrum  on March 9, 2019.  Have you had any success in finding a solution for getting the screen recorder in Canvas Studio (formerly called Arc) to work for you?  If so, would you be willing to share your solution?  (Also, have you tried different browsers such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox?)  Or, if you are still looking for some help with this question, please let us know that as well.  For the time being, I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered"...not because we've necessarily found a solution for you...but more because we haven't heard back from you, and there hasn't been any new activity in this topic for more than three months.  However, that won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions and/or comments below that are related to this topic.  I hope that's okay with you, Beate.  Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.

So, we just acquired Studio and I also encountered this problem where I was repeatedly being asked to download the screen recorder. In my case the issue was that the recorder was still open (but notrecording) in the background from the previous screencast I had aborted.

I am having this problem, too. I can use Studio webcam but Screen Capture fails to launch the app. I have downloaded it many time and am able to launch the app outside of studio whereupon it gives the message "ready to record, go back to your webpage to start recording" and the studio page remains totally blank. 

It is not answered!

I've been having this problem.  It didn't ask me to download, but I'd just downloaded it on my laptop when I got that message, so I copied and ran it on my desktop.  It gave me the same "Ready to record, go back..." message, but doesn't open at all when I click on record webpage.  I can still record a webcam, just not my screen, which makes it way less useful.

For those getting a message to download again. If any of you have Screencast-O-matic try uninstalling it. I was having the same problem but then I was able to use Studio Screen Capture as soon as I uninstalled Screencast-O-matic. Studio Screen Capture actually looks identical to Screencast-O-matic when I launched it.

I have been having the same problem with it asking me to download again. This is the solution! You just have to make sure that the window from the last Studio recording is closed and that will solve the problem! Thank you for sharing your solution.
