Quiz Due Dates Disappearing when Assigned to Section + Students

Using the web version of Canvas, I'm having an issue assigning a Canvas Classic Quiz to both a class section and some individual students.
Then I save the Quiz, Canvas splits the class section and the students into different Assign To blocks. This alone is fine, but the issue is that the class section Assign To block loses its due dates/times and thus doesn't show up in the students' to-do lists and Calendars.
This seems to be a glitch. Anyone else having this issue or understand what is going on? Thanks! Dan

Hello @dan_baker,
First thing to bring to your attention is that in your second screenshot, you did not redact (hide) the names of the two students you were working with (you did in the first screenshot). I would highly recommend that you edit your post and upload a redacted version of the screenshot.
I have been able to duplicate the experience that you have described. I have also reached out to Canvas Support over the phone. While working together, after duplicating what you have described, we reviewed the How do I assign a quiz to everyone, individual students, or sections? - Instructure Community - 714 support article and specifically its "Select Assignees" section. That section of the guide does have a note that says (emphasis added by me): "You can include more than one student or section in the To field as long as the students are to be assigned the same due and availability dates."
Based on that, it seems that it is not possible to "mix" sections and students into the same "Assign To" box. The Canvas Support representative is going to reach out to the next level and find out if (a) this is the intentioned experience or (b) if this is a bug. Regardless of which is it, the representative is going to ask if this is considered to be a UX/UI challenge that should be resolved because the experience is not as expected from an end user perspective
In the meantime, I would recommend not "mixing" sections and individual students in the same "Assign To" box.
