I had thought this was a one-off, but now the next quiz in a certain course is randomly showing up empty for students. And for every student that it shows up empty, the moderate quiz page shows the quiz timer running.
Funny thing is, for the first quiz, the timer was running for a majority of students, all with the exact same time.
The only way to fix it so far is for each student to go into the quiz and submit, then I give them an extra attempt. Only the 2nd attempt do they see the questions. But other students have no trouble. This is a screen shot of the moderate quiz page with one student stuck:
I'll try support, but in the meantime, has anyone else run into this and have a solution? I really don't want this to happen throughout the entire course!
Could be a fluke, but what browser are the students who are having the issues using? We've had a lot of Microsoft Edge issues lately and we've warning students to stay away from it and Canvas.
Thanks for the reply, Kona.
The occurrences are fairly random, using different browsers, different times. On one quiz, a bunch of the students even had countdowns all counting in tandem. So it was obviously a computer fluke and not something the students did.
I tried tech support and they can't figure it out either, but their advice was to have students chat with help when the problem is occurring so maybe they can figure it out. I'll post if they do.
Were you able to find an answer to your question? If you still have a question about this or if you have information that you would like to share with the community, by all means, please do come back and leave a comment.
I am an IT Support Desk worker and this issue presented itself just this weekend. Students went into the quiz to take it and were given an empty quiz with a timer counting down. We too were baffled and found this article far too late.
