Some students cannot see "submission" link for Assignments

But when I login as an instructor and go to "student view", no problem.  Likewise, when I enroll a new "dummy" student, he can see the link.  But my original class of students cannot see the submission button.

What gives?

This could simply be a browser issue.  Check out a similar question I helped answer back in December: Having trouble with "submit assignment button" not loading.
